People sometimes ask me what are must-have items for a traveler, which causes me to think about what I have that makes traveling more enjoyable for me. Here is one item I can’t live without.
Every traveler needs a good carry-on bag – and the best one to get, in my opinion, is a backpack. I discovered this need while enroute to Philadelphia, when I had to change flights at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport.
As luck would have it, my flights were on opposite ends of the terminals that day, with very little time to make the connection. I had no choice but go jogging through the airport, with my bulky over-the-shoulder carry-on constantly slipping off. In that moment, I remember thinking how great it would be to have a backpack instead of this awful bag.
The following Christmas, Santa granted my wish! I received an awesome Samsonite backpack as a gift, one made specifically to be a traveling carry-on. What sets it apart from other backpacks is that it has padded space for a laptop, a sturdy luggage handle on top, several zippered pockets to keep items from rolling around inside, and comfortably padded straps and backing.
Having this backpack allows me to dash through any airport with ease! As an added bonus, bringing it along means I always have a backpack at my current destination, which I can use for outdoor daytrips and indoor shopping excursions.
