Magazine publisher

Inspirement was started by RoseAnna Schick, a travel columnist, PR specialist, content creator, and award-winning professional based in Winnipeg, Canada. With a writing career spanning more than 20 years, it was her dream to one day have one online home for all of her previously published articles. The idea for a magazine slowly took shape as a way to not only showcase her stories, but also to feature other writers. She also plans to provide a platform to help develop the next generation of writers.

Lifelong writer

Born and raised in the tiny town of Marquette on the windswept Canadian prairies, writing has been RoseAnna’s passion since receiving her first newspaper byline at the age of nine. As a young adult, she wrote and published the sassy staff newspaper at her summer camp job, before pursuing post-secondary. She completed a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Winnipeg, and Creative Communications at Red River College, where she graduated on the Honour Roll and presented with the prestigious Lieutenant Governor’s medal.

Today, RoseAnna is an award-winning travel writer who has contributed over 250 columns to Canstar News. Prior to this, she was a freelance writer for more than 20 print publications including Going Places Magazine, Manitoba Calling Magazine, Winnipeg Women Magazine, and The Cottager.

RoseAnna’s work has been syndicated through the Canadian Press newswire service, and featured on websites like NHL.com, Examiner.com, and TravelManitoba.com. She contributed a golf column and a snowmobile column to the Winnipeg Free Press, a fitness column to Urban NDN, and an entertainment column to First Nations Voice.

Notable achievements

Since 2004, RoseAnna has operated RAS Creative, providing communications to the music and motion picture industries. She has worked with more than 90 film and television projects, 70 special events, and contributed to the career development of dozens of recording artists.

RoseAnna was honoured to receive a Women of Distinction Award in 2011, and nomination for the 2007 Manitoba Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. Her writing work garnered an Honourable Mention at the 2013 Professional Writers Association of Canada Awards, and two nominations at the 2018 Outdoor Media Summit Awards. She produced a music video called Politician Man that won Best Performing Arts & Entertainment at the Yorkton Film Festival, along with several other awards. RoseAnna also earned awards and nominations for other music videos, and her work in music management.

When she isn’t writing, or working, RoseAnna loves spending time in the outdoors, or pretending to be an athlete. She is keen on rowing, running, curling, cycling, golfing, swimming, paddling, hiking, skating, skiing, playing hockey, and doing yoga. Just not all on the same day.
