Production has commenced on the November 1963movie, a historical thriller being filmed in Manitoba. Principal photography began in Winnipeg on June 18th and is expected to wrap in early August.
November 1963 is about ‘The Chicago Outfit’ and the killing of a president. The film’s cast includes two-time Academy Award nominee, Golden Globe and Emmy winner John Travolta (Pulp Fiction, Saturday Night Fever) as Johnny Roselli, Robert Carlyle (The Full Monty, Trainspotting) as Jack Ruby, Dermot Mulroney (My Best Friend’s Wedding, Anyone But You) as Chuckie Nicoletti, Mandy Patinkin (The Princess Bride, Homeland) as Anthony Accardo, Jefferson White (Yellowstone, Civil War) as Lee Harvey Oswald, and Thomas Fiscella (The Mysterious Benedict Society, Jersey Boys National Tour) as Sam Giancana.
The film is directed by two-time Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Roland Joffe (The Killing Fields, The Mission). It explores events surrounding the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, a moment that has inspired debate and speculation for decades. Producers on the film are Kevin DeWalt of Mind’s Eye Entertainment, and Nicholas Celozzi, who also serves as writer of the screenplay. Celozzi is the grand-nephew of Sam Giancana.
Written from firsthand accounts
The screenplay draws from firsthand accounts and exclusive insights from the Giancana family. As boss of the Chicago Outfit, one of the most powerful Italian-American criminal organizations in the United States during the 1950s and early 1960s, Sam Giancana became widely known for his ties to the Kennedy family during John F. Kennedy’s presidential campaign and administration.
Says Writer and producer Nicki Celozzi: “The whole essence of the story, the project, why we are doing this, is that it came from Sam Giancana‘s brother, Pepe, who was in the room with Sam during these two days. The screenplay is their story, my family story that focuses on the ‘outfit’, Giancana, and their involvement in setting up the ‘assassination’. Including the second shooter, who was sent there as a fail-safe backup to carry out the mission.”
New files shedding new light
In addition to eyewitness testimony, recently declassified JFK files have shed new light on the intricate circumstances surrounding President Kennedy’s assassination. Lending an unprecedented level of authenticity and validity to the film’s portrayal of this critical moment in history. Above all, these newly available documents support many of the facts woven into the November 1963movie. They also reinforce the film’s dedication to historical accuracy and truth, having been vetted by historians and experts.
